The Short Vowel Program consists of 36 activities focusing on beginning and ending consonants and the five short vowels. Activities include spelling words with a movable alphabet, matching word cards to miniature objects, matching words to picture cards, labeling nine pictures on a large card, reading one-word booklets, and reading word family cards.
The Vowel Buddies Program uses 36
activites to encompass eleven long vowel sounds, including ai, ay, ee, ea,
ie, _y, oa, oe, ow, ui, ue.. The Vowel Buddies activities are similar to
those in the Magic E Program (picture above) and include spelling
words with movable letters, matching words to pictures or sentences,
identifying vowel buddies words in sentences, sorting words by vowel
pattern, labeling pictures on a large card, reading one-word booklets,
reading word family cards, and reading riddles. The activities can be housed in plastic drawer units, small cardboard game boxes, or any container of your choice. Our cardboard boxes are approximately 6 x 4 x 2 inches. The short vowel program and the vowel buddies program will need 36 game boxes, and the magic e program will need 18 drawers or game boxes.
